Love Your Sewing Machine

Sewing Machine Cover

You can find patterns online for your sewing machine, but the ones I've seen don't allow for the clear slide-on table that I like to keep on my machine. Plus I usually like to do my own thing.

I began by creating my own pattern. I roughly measured the height, width and depth of the machine and added a bit for seam allowances. I cut the blue fabric to the size and pinned it, WRONG sides together. This blue fabric looks great the "right" way and the "wrong" way, so I made use of both on the sides and edges.

I quilted the front and back with my walking foot with the guide in a diagonal pattern. It looks really great.

I sewed all the pieces wrong sides together so I could stitch on a bias binding over the seams. I added in openings for my cords on the right hand side.

It sort of looks like a big covered toaster(!), but I am pleased with it. On the left hand side I had to add in some inverted pleats to account for the slide-on table(that I didn't realize was much wider than the machine...how did I miss that?!)

I learned a lot along the way. There are so many steps I didn't do in order that would have made it so much easier to stitch had I thought about them before I began stitching. I have a new-found respect for people who make patterns. It takes a lot of brain power and time.

Felted Art Quilt...for now

Just "finished" beading this needle felted piece. I started it out by playing with some gorgeous colors of wool...then onto adding fibers and finally beads and sequins. I'm thinking it will become the front of a book cover..maybe for a composition book???

Shifting gears

Had to throw in a little paper crafting this week. I have both sides of the art studio in a shambles. One side has paper and journals spread about and the other with my sewing machine has the unfinished quilt I'm working on. Here's a look at one page in a journal. I have so many papers and embellishments and haven't scrapbooked in so long that I must use up my stash. So I've got this 8" x 8" chipboard journal started....just creating pages with photos, embellies and wordage, so far.

New (to me) fabric!

Took my sewing machine in to my local quilt store to have it looked at. I broke a needle while sewing two days ago and it was making a weird clicking sound...see last post. Well turns out it just needed oil! What? I oiled it twice before I took it in. Oh, well, better safe than sorry, right? So while I'm there I might as well pick out a few fat quarters.

Take 5 Quilt finally finished!

Woo-Hoo, look at me! I've finished two quilts in one week. That UFO pile is getting smaller. :-)

This was the very first quilt top that I pieced and I'm now finally finished with it. It's a Take 5 Quilt that I started at a class at my local quilt store back at the beginning of the year. My #2 son is using it on his bed as he has been begging for one since I made one for #3 son. I will make him one with colors he wants later, but at least I now only have one son (the #1) who is looking for his quilt. I'm actually glad they like what I make and that they don't look at the imperfections because there are plenty...let me tell ya!

What have I learned about piecing and quilting since making this quilt?

I sure am glad the fabric was already cut as a kit. That way we got to learn piecing and not have to worry about cutting. A BIG plus for a person like me who comes from paper crafting. Give me a paper trimmer and I'm fine...but ask me to use a rotary cutter and I'm all thumbs! I've gotten much better with a rotary cutter and an acrylic ruler, but at that time it was so confusing!
Whether a pattern lies on grain or not is vitally important to me. These pieces were already cut out for us in a kit as I previously stated. But the pattern is not on grain and so the stripes are wonky! UGH! I will definitely be taking a closer look at patterns next time. (If you couldn't tell..yes, it bothers me!)
As I went back to quilt this, I see how many mistakes I made in sewing. It really takes a lot of practice to sew a straight line (insert googly-eyed emoticon). Since then, I've purchased a piecing foot with a 1/4" guide. What a difference it makes! Plus I have learned to take my time and sew much straighter since then, too, but I won't even try it without my super-duper presser foot.
I need prints, especially large scale prints like these, to be straight on the border. The pattern is not straight on the border strips and next time I think I would take more time (and possibly more fabric) to ensure this rather anal person has the patterns lined up on the border.
I began the actual quilting of this months ago and as I went back in to quilt it more, I see the quilt wasn't smoothed out enough on the batting and there's some puckering. I would have taken out the stitches and redone it, but it was quilted quite a bit and I just let it go. I am really trying to allow these first few quilts to be a learning practice for me. I know I seem pretty concerned with details, and I am, but I have to allow time for the learning process. No one in my house will go through the quilt looking for things NOT done right. They love what I make and appreciate the gift. That's all I need right now. Next time, I can make it better.

While I was sewing on the binding I broke a needle. There was a big crashing sound. So I changed the needle, but the sound was still there. So I cleaned the machine. Still here. So I re-threaded everything. No luck. Now I will be taking it in so Steve can adjust it. It must be out of whack and I'm terrified to sew with it making noises. So more sewing is delayed for a few days. :-(

Quilt time again!

Oh, I so love it when I get a stretch of time to finish up things that have been waiting in the wings. Such was the fate of my UFO's...a few quilts that had not been finished. But I'm happy to say that I've finished one today!

This one is part of the Bread and Butter Society that I've been taking part in at my local quilt store. It is not large enough to go on a bed so this will be a snuggle quilt for TV watching.

I have one more to finish the quilting on and then I do have a third that has yet to be pieced!

Oh, I can't wait to have them all done!

Dear blog,
I'm so sorry I haven't posted anything to you lately. I really have been thinking of you weekly if not daily. I have the best intentions to post much more than I have been lately, but I have been working on my online classes and have to work with deadlines. I have students expecting course materials from me. I promise that I am almost finished with the new classes I am teaching fall semester. Then I will have so much more time to devote to you. Yes, I know that once I'm finished with fall classes I will quickly move onto creating new Spring 2012 classes, but I really will post more...really!

This one is part of Bread and Butter Society...a class I am taking at my local quilt shop, Bernina Sewing Centre. The shop is getting a new website soon and I for one am totally excited!

Since 9/11/2001 and the terrorism we as a country have endured, I've become much more patriotic. We have flown a flag for 10 years from the roof of our house. I cry every time I hear Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA". I will not forget where I was and how I felt when I saw what happened in NYC, at the Pentagon, and in a field in Pennsylvania that horrible day. I thank God for the brave men and women who fight for our country to keep us safe so we can enjoy our freedoms and the life we have.

Finishing that UFO

I am finally getting to finish that quilt I started back in March. Why did it take me so long? Well, I got side-tracked by taking loads of classes at my local quilt shop, starting and finishing a second quilt before I finished the first, and working on creating new classes for My Creative Classroom. Oh yeah, a few vacations were thrown into the mix, too.

But I am happy to say that I've got a good portion of this one quilted. Just got to keep going till it's done. I will certainly post photos along the way.

Tulip Fabric Book Page

Finally finished the Tulip page for Fat Book #2, a collaborative fabric book with my online friends at Trading Fabric Post Cards. Yes, I realize this is not a post card, but we have various swaps in our group and you can sign up for whatever you want to do.

For this swap, each participant creates an 8" x 8" page of fabric using the flower theme. I've begun receiving the others' pages and everyone has such a different style. It's so neat to see the various fabrics, stitching, and embellishments that each has created. For mine, I started by spraying the blue background with Glimmer Mist, free-hand drawing the tulip with colored pencils, then thread sketching with various shades of thread. I think for my first thread sketching project it's pretty darn good. Add to that the fact that I can't draw, and I'm proud of my page. Let's hope the other gals like it, too. :D

Butterfly Post Card

Another post card for the swap.

Yes, it's not a great photo and it looks a little wonky, but I've already sent it off in the mail so I can't re-do it. I stamped the butterflies on canvas (cotton duck cloth) with Staz-On Ink by Tsukineko.

On another note. I hate computers...well, I guess it's a love-hate relationship. My laptop died on Thursday, so I took it in to Best Buy to see if the Geek Squad could rescue it. (Luckily I had backed-up all my very important stuff for work and my photos just two days prior!) They still have it, but said that I probably need a new one since it was 3-1/2 years old as laptops usually only last 3-4 years. Since when did things that expensive have such a short lifespan??

Well, needless to say, I had to purchase a new one. OK, so that's just the way it goes, right? I had them load up the necessary Microsoft stuff and retrieved it that evening. But, when I tried to start the darn thing up the next morning it wouldn't load Windows. UGH! I didn't freak out, as would be my normal response, which I was very glad about(I must be growing up!??). Knew it must be a bad apple and, of course, they started all over again and gave me a brand new one... Here's to another great 3-1/2 years of computing!

It's that time again. Time for another school year. Ah, new clothes and supplies are always exciting! So as you send your kids off to school, make sure you continue your learning, too. My Creative Classroom is an online arts and crafts learning center. Our interactive and in-depth courses are instructor-led and filled with wonderful projects and techniques to help you get the most out of your supplies.

We've got over 100 classes scheduled for the fall semester which begins September 6th...some brand new classes and always your returning favorites. thread sketching

My first feeble attempts at thread sketching. I colored the canvas cloth with Glimmer Mist, hand colored the tulip with colored pencils, and then free motion stitched. I actually like it a lot.

This is for a page I am making for the swap group. There are ten of us...each making a page for each others books with the flower theme. I have a few more steps to do before I can send them out. I will post when it's all finished.

Here's what I did this past weekend:
We had a blast! We went with my DH and DS#3, my sister, her DH and DD. We stayed in Copperhill, Tennessee in a little house on a lake with gorgeous views! We went rafting on the Upper and Middle Ocoee River with Ocoee Adventure Center. You must look up our guide, Mark, for a great safe, but wild ride!

I think I've finally finished this piece with the sunflowers. I'm lovin' the black pompoms!

Love that it's not perfect and has that "sketchy" look to it. I try very hard to be imperfect...even though it's not my nature. Really!

The back even looks cool. So glad I used black thread instead of one that coordinated with the back fabric!

Bugs fabric post card swap

Another card for the swap. For this post card I hand-stamped images onto muslin. The ink was a little light so I darkened it with a Pitt pen. I just love batik fabrics. That black print fabric for the edging was from some old capri pants that didn't fit anymore. (They shrunk in the dryer...really!)

Needle felting and metallic thread

I'm taking up another craft...What?...another one? Yes, I'm a sucker for beautiful things and I just can't help myself! (But I have to limit my crafting at some point...or do I?)

Needle felting is such an easy and portable craft. That's one reason I like it. You don't really have to think or design. What you plan may not happen as you place your roving/threads/fibers down and felt away. I took my supplies out to the porch yesterday and sat there just creating. It was a much-needed relaxing time. It was a beautiful day and I just wanted to play.

I used this 100% wool roving from Wistyria Editions. These colors are part of the #858 Wild Flowers assortment. I have two other assortment collections, too, and am just enamored with the fluffy feel and wonderful colors.

So here's what I made. Yep, part of the swap...this time fabric ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) and not post cards.

I just love these cards! Besides the wonderful color and the portable-ness of needle felting, I've used fuchsia metallic thread! It is such a great addition to the softness of the base of craft felt and wool roving.

Green Yellow and Orange Fabric Post Card

My "creative juices" weren't flowing too well today. It took me pulling out most of my fabric to decide on a project for my "Green, Yellow, and Orange" post card for the swap.

Let's go through the process.

First I chose this fabric. But it doesn't have any yellow or orange, you say....yes, I do realize that. It's coming. Cut to 4" x 6" post card size. I added a layer of tear-away stabilizer to the back and began free-motion stitching over the light and dark green areas.

Next, I hand cut a few quasi-flower shapes and stitched them in place.

Then it's time to add the orange...

Add a thick stabilizer, the post card image for the mailing side and satin stitch this sucker. I usually satin stitch two or three times around the perimeter to get it looking as thick as I like it.

And voila...it's a post card!

Off it goes to it's recipient...

Zentangle Fabric Post Card

It's nice to be the butt of your own jokes. HUH? Yes, I said it. I had to laugh at myself as I stitched this Zentangle post card to send off for the swap. I was never a doodler...I'm very left-brained, so I'm not good at Zentangle. Then, throw in the fact that I'm not too good at free motion stitching(yet!) and that's why the laughter. Here's my attempt at a fabric Zentangle post card. It is off "across the pond"...going to the UK tomorrow as I send it to it's recipient. She should get a kick out of this one...!

I must say, though, that I do like the black thread on the red batik fabric...OK, so there's one good thing about it! LOL! And my satin stitch is getting better... ;-)

First quilt finished

I love not having this as a UFO (unfinished object)! It is actually the second quilt top I've pieced but the first that is actually finished..quilted and bound! YIPPEE. Colors were requested by my #3 son and he is happy to finally have it on his bed!

The pattern is Fab Five by Abbey Lane Quilts. I added an extra row of the irregular triangle shapes and two borders so it would fit on his twin sized bed.

The backing is a great red batik. I used black thread in the top and bobbin to quilt it, so you can see where I've outlined each line and angle. It's hard to see in this photo, but it's super cool!Now onto the rest of my UFO's!

Apron Fabric Post Card

Here's another post card for my swap group, Trading Fabric Post Cards. This one is, obviously, with an Apron theme. The base is actually a salmon colored batik...not as orange-y as it's showing up here. The little tea pot, cup, and goodies are cut from cardstock-weight glitter paper and are adhered with foam squares for dimension. Off it goes in the mail to its recipient!! Hopefully, it will be in tact when it gets there.

I love receiving goodies in the mail. You must try it. I know it's "old school" to use snail mail, but it sure is fun! Remember when that was the way you communicated with your friends?? Writing letters? Seems so long ago. I think kids these days are missing out on some very wonderful things with the "too-much technology" that's going on now. What do you think?

April Showers Fabric Post Card

Here's my latest fabric postcard for a swap. The topic is "April Showers". It's with the Yahoo group "Trading Fabric Post Cards". Come join us. You sign up for only the ones you want to do. There are topics listed in the database and you just add your name to the list of the postcards you want to make. You usually have at least a month to complete and send off your postcard. It's so fun to be a part of a group. As the post cards come in you get to see everyone's different artistic "take" on a topic. We also trade fabric ATC's (Artist Trading Cards) and Fat Books. Our definition of a Fat Book is a larger fabric page with semi-specific instructions. 10-12 people sign up and we make that many pages...trade them and collect all the other 10 pages and add them to a fabric book with the binding of your choice.

Here's the page I made for my first Fat Book. We have 12 participants, each creating a different month of the year. When they all get to me I will have a 12-page Fat Book wonderfully created by other gals all across the US, Canada, and the UK. When they all come in I'll share the completed book. Only a few more pages and I'll have them all. Can't wait!

I signed up for the next Fat Book, too. That one will be with a theme of flowers. I chose tulips. My mom tells me that my grandfather had tulips growing in his garden. Although I don't remember it, they remind me of my grandfather. So every time I see tulips, I think of grandpa.

Fabric-Covered Composition Book

I took another class at my local quilt shop on Sunday. Do I really need a fabric-covered composition book? No, it's not necessarily about the project. But this pattern from Indygo Junction is a cutie and definitely easy to follow. The reason I take classes is to glean valuable sewing info from the instructors. Melody, who taught the class and is the store owner, is an award winning garment seamstress. Guess what? She always adjusts the patterns and adds her little tweaks of goodness. For this class she added in needle felting, bobbin stitching, and decorative sewing. You can't get that from a regular pattern. Plus you get to ask all those burning questions you have as you sew. I got to ask about types of wool roving to use, where to get it, what else would work, etc. We got to use the Bernina Needle Punch Tool and a Clover Needle Felting Tool (yes, I had to purchase the felting tool and large mat! I have big plans for it!)

Here's the closed book front. We made crazy patch fabric and did some decorative stitching with bobbin stitching:

There's an inside pocket for pens(the pattern has a little pocket for biz cards, too)

The back has some decorative stitches with regular thread. I'm so loving that diagonal striped fabric. It made is so easy to add the stitches.

I can't say enough about shopping at your local "Mom & Pop" shops. They have put in so much time and energy(not to mention money) to have a great store for you. Do you want the quilt stores to go the route of scrapbooking stores? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, they are basically all gone...the "Joanne's" and "Michael's" may last, but you've got to put your money into local shops and restaurants if you want them to stay.

Quilt time!

I'm quilting my second quilt. Actually, I have all the pieces for the first quilt, I just haven't quilted them all together yet. This second quilt is for DS #3. He picked out the colors and is very excited to have it on his bed. He asks me almost daily if it is finished yet. So I HAVE to get this done.

The photo below is the "all laid out" backing, batting, and quilt top. This is using the Fab Five Abbey Lane pattern. I took the liberty of adding more circles, an extra row of diagonal cut fabrics, and a 4" border so it would fit my son's twin bed. I took the quilt class at my local quilt shop last month and learned so much. If you think you want to learn to do something, you've got to just jump in and do it...that's how you learn!
Gotta love that 505 Spray and Fix by J.T. Trading Corp! It eliminates or reduces the need to pin the layers so you can just take it to the machine and quilt. I did have to re-spray a few times because I got a couple of wrinkles, but I figure it's gonna happen with the learning of it all. I LOVE 505!!

I'm so glad I purchased a walking foot!! Man, you sure couldn't quilt without it. It has a larger sole plate (actually the one I got has three sole plates with it!) and helps out with stitching thick hunks of batting and fabric...just what a quilt is. In this photo below I am "stitching in the ditch" with the walking foot and the help of a guide. No, I can't sew a straight line and need a guide!

When it's all done, I'll show photos! The back looks really cool...

Coloring on Fabric

Yep, you can color on fabric with all sorts of coloring tools. Markers, pencils, crayons...loads of stuff. Pull it out of the drawers and just play.

I started this piece a while ago. Stencil with paint on muslin. I love sunflowers and have been wanting to finish it as an art quilt. Let's see how far I can get.

First, I started coloring the flower petals with water coloring pencils.

Next, dip a paintbrush in a bit of water and spread the color around. Nice! I got turned onto water-soluble oil pastels a few years ago. I had never tried them and now I absolutely love them. Loads of rich color that you can add water to and spread it out onto the fabric.

These are the pastels I have...Portfolio. They weren't expensive which was why I decided to try them. You know I have too many art/papercrafting/fabric supplies and when something is not expensive I can easily purchase them and give them a try.

Feel free to mix various coloring tools on one piece...they all mesh together because they are all water-soluble. Keep adding color until you are satisfied with the results. Add color to dry cloth or to wet cloth. With each you will get different results, so experiment.

OK, I'm feelin' it. Now to add a bit of 3-D embellishments.

Click here for Part 1. Last time we started with wet fabric. This time we keep it dry. It gives a different look. I have not washed my fabric and it does bead up, but I want to have this effect. It doesn't soak into the fabric and takes on the texture of the canvas (cotton duck) that I'm using.

First off, you must cover your workspace! I work on my ironing board and cut open a plastic garbage bag to protect the pad. Pull out your paints, tear or cut fabric to your desired size. I'm making these into a fabric book, so my pages are the size I will use for that.

Pour your paint out on a palette. Don't have a palette? Use a stack of scrap paper that is destined for the garbage...when you're done, just throw it out. Or save the foam fruit trays from the grocery store. All you need to do is rinse them off and they're good to go. I personally wouldn't use ones that had raw meat on it, but if you wash it well...it's not like you'll be eating off it...right?

Let's pick out a few tools. What do you have lying around? I've got a few things to try...

Let's start off with the foam brayer. Load it up good with the paint and lightly roll it over the fabric. It gives a nice, light color. Load it up again with more if you want a darker look.
The rubber brayer is a perfect fit in the foam tray. Let's see how this looks on fabric.
And while we're at it, let's add some paint with a sea sponge. I'm starting with a dry sponge. We're just experimenting, so if I don't like it I'm not committed. But, we're going to be adding more layers after this.
And how about a mesh produce bag?
This is what it looks like at this point. Nothing necessarily to write home about, but this is all about layers. Let this dry and then we can add more layers later. Remember to let each paint color dry before continuing on or you'll get muddy colors.

Not sure which colors to add? Pull out a color wheel or look at one online. I started with greens so what color is a good one to add? Look at what color is opposite of green on the color wheel? Violet or red, depending which type of green you use. Add a bit of that complementary color and you've always got a good look.

Here's a different look.... If you scrunch up the cloth then lightly rub it with a paint-loaded sponge, you can get paint only on the "mountain" ridges.

Use a regular paintbrush. You can use cheap ones. Just swirl the paint. It's really fun!
Another tool that is readily available is a regular pencil eraser. Dip it into the paint and tap it off a bit. Makes good circles.
Break out your foam stamps. If they don't stamp as dark as you want, paint in the shape.
Who knows what this will turn out to be?? Kinda looks like a Chinese dragon...Until next time...enjoy!

Fabric Sun & Surf Tote

I'm totally taking advantage of my local quilt store where I purchased my Bernina aurora 450...re-learning to sew and I love it! I started with a "Take 5" quilt class for beginners. Man, am I ever a beginner! I can barely sew a straight line. Seriously!! With the Mixed Media stuff I do, you don't need straight lines and perfectly cut pieces...but with a quilt...yeah! Last week we sewed our blocks and this week we stitch them all together.... I'll definitely post a photo when it's done.

I made this Sun & Surf Tote at Thursday's class. Love the batik fabrics I chose! It looks like a bathing suit I have.

I must encourage you to check out your local quilt shop/fabric store for classes they offer. The owner of my quilt store, Melody, is an accomplished (and award-winning) garment seamstress and quilter. Her husband Steve works at the shop in management but also with machine maintenance. Then there's Cheryl who helps teach classes...I know there are more employees and teachers, but I don't know them all yet.

My purpose in mentioning this is that during the classes I have attended, I get help on threads, tension, fabrics, rotary cutting, tools, presser feet....There is so much knowledge available for you if you only ask. Who cares if you don't like the class project!? Give it away as a gift, but come learn the techniques and principles. That's how you get better!

Collaborative Fabric Book

This is my page for a collaborative fabric book...finally done! YIPPEE!! There are twelve of us from the Trading Fabric Post Cards swap group in this collaborative effort. Each of us creates a 6" x 6.5" fabric page about a month of the year. My month, obviously, is March. The extra 1/2" on the left of the fabric is for the binding of your choice.

The base is made of cotton duck.
I've sprayed the green and blue using Glimmer Mists. By using a regular piece of copy paper as a mask you can get a clean line at the "horizon".
Next up was stamping with StazOn by Tsukineko with a stamp.
I also stamped with my fave, bubble wrap using acrylic paints.
I made that ruffly goodness with white lace and satiny ribbon on the right hand edge.
My wonderful new Bernina 450 helped me out with the alpha and little floral embroidery stitch.
I used Bubble Jet Set 2000 on cotton cloth to produce the printable fabric. Love that stuff!!
The acrylic butterfly was colored with Tim Holtz Adirondack Alcohol Inks by Ranger. Love that guy!
A little hand beading for the center of the butterfly...and the flight "trail" of thread.
Sandwich a bit of stabilizer in between the finished piece and backing fabric.

I love it! I'm ready to send this baby off to my friends. Can't wait to receive the other eleven months/pages in the mail!

Stitching frenzy!

Yes, friends, I went to the two day "Machine Retreat" at the quilt store this week to learn about my machine. What a blast! Melody and Cheryl each taught a day as we learned about the machine and created a tote bag with various stitches. I met some wonderful women and learned a bunch. I can't show you what we made as it is a "Melody Original" and only for this class at this store. But I will show you a pix of one thing we did.

I was so psyched...A presser foot with an adjustable guide! For this stitch we used a honeycomb stitch with the width at zero and length at 4. What it produces is a triple stitch that looks like hand embroidery. On this piece we also stitched in the opposite direction so it became a diamond pattern. I love diamond motifs!

Let me tell you why a presser foot with an adjustable guide is such a thrill. I used to make some of my clothes when I was in high school...many moons ago. I don't EVER remember changing presser feet. Seriously! I'm in a new world actually learning how to sew! (insert goofy-eyed emoticon)

I am in love with sewing and fabric. I bought some new threads...of course I gotta get the good stuff if I'm using a Bernina...Mettler cotton. Doesn't this look like a bowl of candies? Such yummy colors!!

I wanted to chat a bit about asking questions. I had a student commenting in an online class, "Fabric: What, How, and WOW!" that I'm teaching at My Creative Classroom. She was complimenting the quality and amount of info I had presented in the first lesson. She said it answered so many of the questions she had but was afraid/embarassed to ask.

Please don't ever be afraid to ask questions...from anyone, anywhere. It is the only way you will learn anything. The gals at your quilt/fabric stores have a plethora of knowledge and expertise....it is yours if you will only ask for it. I am always asking questions. I might even preface the questions by saying, "OK, I know nothing about this..."(especially at the computer store! I make them assume I know nothing and speak to me like a newbie!..."And then which button do I press?...)

But seriously, you can learn so much if you just ask questions!! Just do it!

Derwent Inktense Pencils on Fabric

Remember last week I showed you some of the wonderful fabric I recently purchased from my local quilt shop? Just love this fun newspaper themed fabric. I also love black and white, specifically because you can paint and dye it. (Fabric: Poppy Lane by Alice Kennedy for Timeless Treasures)

Well, here's what I've done to it.
Enter: Derwent Inktense Pencils. These are similar to watercolor pencils, but retain the vibrancy of ink when you add water. Here's what the back of the package reads: Derwent Inktense combines the intensity of pen and ink with the versatility of line and wash. Use them dry to create strong, vivid tones then wash over with water for a translucent, ink-like effect. Once dry, this colour wash is permanent and can be worked over again using other media, both soluble and non-soluble. The possibilities are endless, the results stunning.
They come in this pack of six and also larger packs of 24 colors.

I began with dry fabric. Color on your fabric with the pencils.

With a paintbrush spread a bit of water and watch the vibrant colors come alive. (Yes, I should have used a smaller brush!)

You will get some bleeding if you use a lot of water, so be aware. You can see some bleed into the man's face below...but that just adds to the charm of it all...in my eyes.So try it out...I bet you'll love them as much as I do!

It's a new year for me!

I've started a new quest...to have a super-fit body so I can defy my age. Yeah, I know you're laughing at me, right? Well, I have hit a MAJOR decade of life this year(insert crying emoticon!) and actually my B-day is the 24th of this month(again!). I've just signed up with a personal trainer at THIS GYM. I had my first half hour session yesterday and I thought I was not going to be able to walk today, but I am happy to say I can. I am sore, but it's a "good sore". Yes, I will still have MY KARATE CLASS twice a week, but it's just not enough.

I had to get on the scale and get measured(I did groan inside just a bit), but I'm so glad I did this for me! I'm on my way...this is my year!

Got my Bernina!!

I got it! My Bernina Aurora 450! I am so psyched! This baby does 9mm stitches in addition to all the regular stuff. I have a free motion foot, and all sorts of other cool feet for it. Be prepared to start seeing some sewing projects coming down the pike. Is it the most amazing thing you've ever seen?

It has this cute little cabinet to put all your tools and feet. I also got some bobbins and thread. So my hubby may be watching the Superbowl this Sunday, but I'll be sewing and trying out all the available stitches. Next week I go to the Machine Retreat. Two whole days of learning how to use this puppy! YIPPEE!!

So can you tell a difference from this photo above and the ones I posted yesterday? Hopefully, you can! I decided to get the shelves yesterday and not wait...so glad I got it all done. Hubby helped me, of course, but we got the shelves all lined up with the ones I already had. I'm so thrilled. Yeah, I know it doesn't look like it should be in a magazine, but I have never had so few items on my work table! Come, let's go on a tour!

First, here are the new shelves. At the top are various things I made...some from classes I took, some from classes or kits I offered. I've got all my coloring tools together...stamps, inks, paints...well, I do have more paints in another drawer...I love paints! Yes, the ScrapRack is still here. I've got to decide on that. I want to put my Xyron Creatopia in its spot. (If you click on the Creatopia link you'll get to see my friend Beth in the video...she's a hoot!) The Creatopia is parked in the living room right now. My crafty stuff keeps migrating to other rooms! ;-)
Here's the wall of cardstock. I told you I had a lot of cardstock, but you didn't realize I meant THIS much, huh? (O, yeah, I do have more than this, I just remembered!) Top right shelf has finished scrapbook pages that need a home. See on the left side of the rack? All my pompoms??
My wall of fabric. I have fabric categorized by color in the white bins, then some fat quarters I want to keep out because I love the colors. Rolls of Lutradur and Pellon stabilizer standing on the floor. That piece of fabric with the eggs that's hanging down is printed on TAP(Transfer Artist Paper) and transferred to a linen-like material. I love birds and eggs and nests. Not too much fabric here so I can expand!! YIPEE!! Notice the "Twilight" trio?
To the left of my laptop are the original shelves and now the new ones butted up against them. That paper mache dress form will get clothes eventually!
The Cricut corner: Expression, Jukebox(I haven't ever use this!), Gypsy, multitude of cartridges, markers, gel pens, Cuttlebug and embossing folders, extra mats, extra blades, and carts with loads of tools.

I'm so happy about this room...I'm ready to create now. I wonder how long it will stay looking this good???!!!

Guess what I've been doing this weekend?

Take just one guess...what do you think I was doing this weekend? Yeah, I'm not done as you can plainly see!
So I changed out the dining room table for two 6-foot folding tables. There's so much more room. I have those grids on the left wall (see top photo) from when I was a scrapbook consultant and kept an inventory. OK, I know I still have all that inventory! I will be taking down those racks and putting up more shelving like you see in the photos on the far wall. Those are from Home Depot! I just need more space!!

Sheesh! You can't even see the rack of Cropper Hopper Paper Holders where I categorized all my cardstock by color. (...took me quite a few hours!) I have eight of them with filled with wonderfully color-coded cardstock!

I will be saying goodbye to my double wide ScrapRack. It just takes up too much space. Anyone want it? I am sure the shipping would be furious!

I can't wait to show you the finished room. I sure hope it won't take too long to fix it up!!

ATC collection

Here's my wall mounted holder (7 gypsies Artist Printer Tray) for some amazing ATC's(Artist Trading Cards) I've created and received from an online swap. The ladies involved in the swap are participants in an online class taught by Catherine Matthews-Scanlon. I'm sorry to say that the class is closed right now, but you've got to take a class with Catherine! Her style, attention to detail, projects, etc., are phenomenal!! I am a lucky one. I am a "teacher's helper" inside her class. That means I create her classroom, upload her course info and do whatever she asks of me to get her online classes rolling. Plus I get the first view at her wonderful projects!! :D

Back to the cards. We're in the process of mailing them all out and receiving them...some of us are "across the pond" from one another, so it can take a bit of time to get them all where they're supposed to be. In any case, when they are all here I will show close-ups of each card and links to the participants' blogs so you can see what other wonders they create! Hang onto your hats because these babies are beautiful!!

Oh my! Don't ya just love it when you get a package in the mail? Well I ordered a box of stuff from Carol Wingert. She's one of my fave persons...designer, author, artist-extraordinaire! When she has a class or offers a "workshop in a box"/monthly kits, don't walk...RUN to your credit card and plunk down whatever it costs! I am so serious! Carol has a superb quality about her and it shows in the type of work she does.

I just received the Inspiration Grab Box I ordered from her. This was her just purging stuff from her house...not a kit or brand new stuff...just things she was getting rid of. Why would I spend money on other people's stuff? Oh, well, this is Carol Wingert...'nuff said!

This was waaaaayyyy beyond my wildest dreams. No there aren't anymore, but I show you what I got only to tease you...I mean show you how extravagantly Carol gives of herself.

What to do when it's raining? Shopping, of course!

It was a rainy day today in the Sunshine State. So, after I did my email-reading and website-tending, I ventured off to Bernina Sewing Center in Lake Mary...just a piece up the road from me.

Melody, who owns the place, took so much time helping me understand the differences in the Bernina models. Her shop is amazing! There is so much quilty goodness in that store. Tons of samples to see and touch, amazing mixed media pieces that is totally right up my alley! Fabrics and classes and tools, oh my. She actually wouldn't "let" me purchase a machine today. She wants me to think on it to make sure of the purchase and make sure I get the machine I really want. I really appreciate that. When I researched the store online, I told myself that the personality of the store owners would dictate whether or not I'd buy from them...and I was so happy to sit and chat with her in depth about her store, her sample pieces, and the classes. She also said to wait becasue they will be having a "Superbowl" sale from Feb 3-7th...really? Telling me to wait for the sale to purchase this? I love it.

So while I was in there, I just had to get a few things! First off, I needed a new rotary cutter. I got this ruler, too, because you can never have enough! She also told me the proper way to hold the ruler so it doesn't slip. (Duh!! I really can't wait for the classes!)

I absolutely couldn't leave the store without a bit of this fabric (below), so I got a full yard. I don't know what I will make with it, but I can see a bunch of little art quilts or ATC's or fabric postcards for my swaps with this. I also will probably dye some of it with a bit of acrylic ink! It is just FAB! (Poppy by Alice Kennedy for Timeless Treasures, Inc.)

My new purse...wonderful ruffly goodness

I have to give you a little background to this purse. It's made from cotton duck. If you're not familiar with it, it is probably the closest thing you can get to canvas...at least at my local Joanns. I like cotton duck because it is pretty heavy duty.

I wanted to play with fabric one day and decided to make a purse...no pattern, just start cutting and sewing. I don't like to read instructions anyway and like being a free spirit and a rogue with my crafting. :-) So I decide to make a purse...what size, you ask? Well it has to fit my wallet and my cell phone and my keys. Other than that I don't care. So I measured my wallet, added a few inches, added a bit for seam allowances and started to rip!

What kind of handle? Well, I like a shoulder strap, but I'm tall and I like the size of the purse to be long enough so I can grab the bottom of the bag with my hand if my arm is extended straight down my side. I don't know how many inches that is, but I went ahead and tore more strips for the strap.

Only after I started sewing this did I realize I wanted to use this yummy quilting fabric. I was perusing the quilting department in the very same Joann's and happened upon this great fabric. The charm pack of this same fabric is called Seaglass by Fabric Central. I bought the fat quarters and the charm pack. I can't find a link, so it's probably discontinued by now. I absolutely fell in love with the colors. It reminds me of a beach vacation.

Long story-short...here's the end result. I love it!

Wonderful ruffly goodness!

When you don't follow a pattern or the regular way you'd normally stitch something like this, you have to fanagle(sp?) a few things...I sewed it up before stitching on the ruffles. Oops! Oh well, I did it anyway. Luckily I hadn't totally stitched down the inner lining so I was able to get inside it to stitch the ruffles.

I'm so proud of this and thankful that it actually turned out well enough to use. Sure, the straps are not exactly straight, but no one will know...Ssshhhh, don't tell anyone!

Painting on Fabric Tutorial, Part 1

Painting on Fabric Tutorial, Part 1
Just let yourself play. No project in mind. Just see how the paints and inks flow onto the fabric. Use whatever you have on hand. Make sure you cover your workspace as you and it will get messy!! I use my ironing board as a table as I like to stand to paint...it's the perfect height.(Thanks and a shout out to Linda Woods and Karen Dinino of Journal Revolution...they use an ironing board, too.)

One of the coloring tools I used is Liquitex Acrylic Inks. These are marvelous! You can use them on paper, fabric, in dip pens, and more! Add them to a spray bottle with a bit of water and spray them onto your fabric or paper. The caps have a dropper so you can save on ink. Or use the dropper and drip onto fabric. You can purchase them individually or the the set I have comes in these three primary colors with black, white, brown(to be exact: Yellow Orange Azo, Phthalocyanine Blue(green shade), Naphthol Crimson, Carbon Black, Titanium White, Transparent Raw Umber). There's also a metallic set...yes, I have it...comes with the black and white and Iridescent Bright Silver, Iridescent Bright Gold, Iridescent Rich Bronze, and Iridescent Rich Copper. Good stuff! I've got to get me a dip pen!!!
This is only a small portion of my paint stash. I have scrapbook paints, craft paints, tube acrylics, fluid acrylics, fabric paints, Dye-Na-Flow(the paint that acts like an ink), Lumiere(wonderful shimmery colors) and more! not to mention other coloring tools and instruments...we'll get to that in later tutorials. ;-)
Onto the painting...I used a scrap of muslin fabric (not pre-washed). Just tear it. You can either paint on your fabric dry or wet. Each will give you a different look. For these photos, I've wet my fabric first. The water gives your paints a more blended look on the fabric, like watercolor. In the photo below, I've wet the fabric and spread on fluid acrylic with a paintbrush. You can use a sponge, foam brush or whatever.
Various colors of fluid acrylics blended with water. I like how as the fabric dried the edges gathered a more vibrant color as the paints wicked out.
You can get some really neat "dyed" fibers, too if you leave the threads hanging on the torn fabric edges. See the bottom right corner of the photo below.
Play with commercially printed fabrics, too. Here's a few 2" squares of a batik look print. The base is white and navy. I just added some very watered-down paints and it created fantastic looking pieces to use in my mixed media art.

Next up...let's add some more color with other coloring tools, stamps, etc.

This one is Garden Divas Peacock Zinnias by Jane Sassaman for Free Spirit Fabrics. I just love the black background with such bright colors. And I'm not usually a bright colored girl, but this is just lovely!

Blog Makeover time!

I'm so inspired to make over my blog. I admit I haven't put too much thought into this thing, but I want to add a few pages. I've gotten some good ideas as I've perused quite a few blogs this weekend. I want to add some tutorials, a gallery of my "stuff"...and I'm on the hunt for a snappy name for my blog/designs/art biz of sorts. That means a new banner/header.

Got to show you more ATC's I've made for a swap:

This was a part of a large stamped image, cut in two. Not my fave, but I like the addition of dimensional portions of the stamped image.

This butterfly card does have a "partner" but I didn't photograph them together. The butterfly is an old rub-on that wouldn't rub onto the transparency. So I just cut it off from the release paper and glued it down, added Diamond Glaze and glitter. It is my FAVORITE!!! I love a bit of black in everything I do, so I am in heaven over this one. Gotta love that black bling. I know I'm probably really weird to like black bling...but I'm really not into shiny and glittery stuff. But this...ooohhhh!!!

For some reason I can't satin stitch too well...I guess I need lessons!

Speaking of which...I am in the mode of purchasing a new sewing machine. I want to be able to free motion stitch, and my current machine doesn't have a darning/free motion foot...darn it all! Oh well, I guess that means I purchase a new one. (go ahead, force me to shop!) Here's the one I'm thinking about:

It's a Bernina aurora 430...gotta head on over to the local quilt shop to check it out and get advice. (While I'm there I MUST search for new fabrics, right?)I have no idea what to get other than I know what I want to use it for. Any advice??

This is what my desk looked like a few minutes ago. Playing with bunches of stuff as I make ATC's for a swap. It's amazing how much better(IMHO) my art is when I listen to beautiful music. I have a wide range in taste of music, but lately have been listening to contemporary Christian music from a local radio station. Good stuff!

Hear ye! N0 snow in Florida!!

I just heard on the radio that Florida(where I am!) is the ONLY state that has NO SNOW on the ground. Yes, there's even snow in Hawaii...but not here. It is sunshining now! We do have freeze warnings for tonoght, I must tell you, and I really hate this cold weather, but this is definitely the place to be. Just thought you might like to know. ;-)

I can't believe it's already Christmas. Wasn't it just Thanksgiving? And that even came too early. Sheesh! Well one thing it does bring is my #2DS's birthday. He's 20 now!!

23rd Anniversary trip to Disney

My DH, Howard, and I celebrated our 23rd wedding anniversary over Thanksgiving weekend. We usually take a night or two to get away at Disney. It's so nice to live so close to Mickey. We are members of the Disney Vacation Club and spent two nights at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge. Disney is amazing when it comes to decoration, food, and a good time.

So here's a few highlights from our trip. I will tell you that I like to take photos of architecture, art, and "things", while Howard likes photos of people. It's good we're together 'cause we end up with some really good pictures!

The BOMA is a buffet-style restaraunt with a carver who will carve steaks and pork, traditional African entrees, salads, breads, wonderful soups(!), and desserts, of course. These things are tiny and you certainly can take one of each..I did!

Here's one of the artsy things I had to take a pix of. It is on the walls where you wait in line for "Living with the Land". It is an educational boat ride through Disney's hydroponic research gardens where they grow vegetables and have fish farming...these colors were so amazing I had to photograph it.

I was invited to a friends birthday. She's turning 50 this year. I've known her since the 4th grade. Yeah, we're the same age, in fact, I'm 10 months older than her. UGH! It was hard turning the big 5-0.

Anyway, I needed a superb gift...not just any gift...a gift for a dear "old" friend. So I turned to a handmade item, of course. What else says, "I love you" and , "You're dear to me" more than handmade?

Here it is. It is NOT my design(thanks, Cat)

Felt, photos printed on fabric, coffee-stained lace, velvet ribbon, velvet leaves, silk flowers...all my favorite things! :D

I made this huge piece for Xyron. They wanted a mixed media piece for display when they go to quilt shows. Hopefully, it will show a bit of what the Xyron Creatopia can do.
It's 24" x 30" and sits in a black framed shadowbox. It's really gorgeous.

Here's what I did:
I printed the photo of my mother-in-law onto fabric treated with Bubble Jet Set 2000.
I created fabric paper (a la Beryl Taylor and Kelli Perkins) for the flowers and hearts.
Music paper was cut using the Xyron Creatopia CUTZ blades.
Thin craft metal was embossed using the Xyron Creatopia Patternz.
Thin craft metal was also cut using the CUTZ blades.
I used Fabric Adhesive and Permanent Adhesive refillz for the Creatopia.
Then there's machine stitching, beading, wire work and flowing fabric.

Happy National Sewing Month!

I bet you didn't know it's National Sewing Month, did you? Well, in honor of such a special event(and I'm being serious!) I made a very cool, very "green" reuseable market bag. There are a few very cool things about this.

The first cool thing is that I recycled blue jeans that my DS#2 outgrew to make the handles. The second, very cool thing(pun intended!) is that it's made with the new Insul-Fleece by C&T Publications. Insul-Fleece keeps cold things cold and hot things hot. Metalized mylar is layered in between polyester fleece to create a high-quality barrier that reflects heat or cold. Very easy to sew through. It's coming out very soon..so be on the look out!

Here's my first two ATC cards for Lisa Vollrath's "Big 5-OH ATC swap". I used Tim Holtz' WONDERFUL BINGO embossing folder for the top one. His embossing folders have such a deep impression. I love them!

All the ATC's should pay homage to Lisa turning 50 this year and journey, adventure, etc. I think these two companions look like they are off on an adventure...don't you think? Maybe they're singing, "On the Road Again"...?

Yeah, it's a bear. We've had a few bears in the neighborhood...they know when it's garbage day! We've even called the Sheriff's office but they can't do anything because it's the bears' habitat. And they are so used to scrounging for food from the garbage cans that they couldn't go back into the wild. So until they harm a person or animal we've got these "pets" walking around.

I don't live in a rural area, mind you. I live on a cul-de-sac that is bumped up against other neighborhoods. There is a state park nearby, but these bears would have had to walk quite a few miles with traffic to get here!

"Crafting with the Cricut: Beyond Paper" online class!!

I've just opened up a new class for registration at My Creative Classroom called "Crafting with the Cricut: Beyond Paper". The class is just that...taking your Cricut (any machine you have) and cutting/crafting with all things non-paper, OK we just MIGHT use a bit of paper!! This is a jam-packed class...5 weeks of course material AND projects to go with each.

Now please don't be alarmed at the length of the supply list...you don't have to purchase everything at once...pick what you want to do during the class and you can follow along with the others. You'll always have the downloadable PDF tutorials for later use when you're ready to purchase the other supplies.

More ATC's for the swap...Yeah, I know I'm supposed to make only 5, but I made 6. I got rather addicted to this small size. It's easy to do a few at a time and use up your scraps. I ended up going through all the little bowls of extra stuff on my table for embellishments.

I think a few of them need a bit more stuff on them. Maybe a jewel or some doodling with a journaling pen. I've got to get them to Lisa ASAP...we're headed off to a mini vacation at the beach and I wanted to get these all done before we leave.

Art Journal Backgrounds

I've been playing around in my two art journals. Whenever I have extra paint on my brush from a project, I swipe it into one (or both) of my journals. I have one that I try to do nice things in(ha-ha!) and the other one is my "Daily Grind" journal. I add lists, receipts, magazine clippings, etc...even coffee packages. Stuff from everyday life. Nothing is entered in chronological order nor is it an everyday thing, but it is my place to experiment with crayons, stencils, paint and other stuff that I like. :D

Should I get a Gypsy???

I'm debating today whether or not to get a Cricut Gypsy. I keep saying I don't want one...but that's what I said about an Expression, which I have purchased along with over 20 cartridges!!

So now I'm thinking about a Gypsy because you can design with it away from your computer... and in the car...I could be playing with it while we drive to vacation in July. How awesome, right? Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too.

I will be teaching advanced Cricut classes at My Creative Classroom in the fall and really "need" it, right? The classes will be creating with all the extras...markers, vinyl, stencils, mixed media stuff and home dec...and also shape books...mini books out of chipboard with different characters and shapes at the page edges...and all sorts of embellishments on them.

Ugh! I just made a bid on eBay for one...we'll see if I get it. (Updated: Yes, I bought one on eBay!!)

It's a crazy week!

This has been and will continue to be "one of those weeks".

We found out on Monday that a dear friend of ours had passed away. He was 53, married for over 25 years and had two grown children. He must have fallen asleep at the wheel...he was hit head-on by a truck. You really can't believe it when someone tells you that. We hadn't seen him in quite a while, but our families have spent some great times together. The family is doing amazingly well...or so it seems. But it weighs heavily on my heart. I do believe he is in heaven, so that is a very good thing. Faith and a love for God is always a good thing. But he will be severely missed.

Next, we found out that my #3 son will need hand surgery...and that will be taking place today! He probably tore a tendon a (few months ago!) when he was playing basketball and he's ready to get it fixed. He is only a little scared...mostly because I told him he has to wear a gown! LOL!(Teenagers!)

The same son had an orthodontist appointment this week and still another doctor appointment this morning and tomorrow we will have a dental appointment.

We will be going on a short vacation next week, but he probably won't be able to get his hand wet...he's bummed out that we're "making" him go on vacation and he won't have any fun. Poor thing! I keep telling him that his father and i are fun and super cool, but he just doesn't see it!

Sheesh! Crazy and busy week.

I was out at J's yesterday working on a few projects for one of many new online classes I'll be teaching in the fall. I was supposed to be just getting two items on my list that I needed. Of course I ended up with a whole lot more than two items! ;-)

Found these great acrylic paint colors that I just HAD to get...only $0.44!! Now tell me, how can you pass that up?? And they are such summery, juicy colors! I plan to paint on fabric with these!

Benefit Class for Haiti and a giveaway

Join My Creative Classroom as we help the victims of Haiti's recent earthquake. Ten of the MCC faculty and myself have come together to offer this wonderful class. All proceeds from this class will go to a wonderful organization.....Haiti by Hand. Haiti By Hand is an artisan group of Haitian women begun by Rebecca Sower. Just days before the earthquakes of January 2010, Rebecca was in Haiti working with this group of women. This ETSY shop was established to showcase and sell the handcrafts of the Haitians, as well as a shop to sell items donated by artists and crafters who want to help this group of Haitians rebuild and establish themselves after the devastation of the earthquakes.

Easter recap

My poor blog...it's not quite as bad as my Etsy store which has nothing in it, but it's pretty neglected! Here's a photo of what our Easter was like at my sister's house.Yes that's DS #3 and my youngest niece playing Wii. All the men were watching and the women were in the kitchen gabbing. What else is new? Actually I did get on the Wii with Lizzy and played sword-fighting. I won a few times and it made her really mad! Being an only child she likes to win...I guess any child or adult wants to win.

My sisters husband is an amazing cook. He made lamb and grilled teriyaki salmon. I questioned it at first, but it was the most wonderful stuff! I'm gonna hafta get me some.

We did an egg hunt and my boys were good sports and hunted with Lizzy. She's so much younger than all the rest of the cousins, but they love her and went out in the heat to collect eggs. They had a good time.

Walking...

A few sights we see on our walk. If you mention walking to my dog, Pepper, she goes crazy. "Wanna go?" "Wanna go walking?" Those two questions send her into another world! She loves to go walking, but it totally wears her out...she's a bit overweight and is panting after the first few hundred yards!

Signs of Spring

In Florida, at least, there are signs of Spring at every turn. I was walking in the yard this past weekend and noticed the citrus trees are beginning to bloom.

The Lime Tree is the first to have blooms and the bees have found it. It's funny how the blossoms don't have a fragrance, but if you pick off a leaf and tear it, the fragrance is amazing! There are some serious thorns on the tree, too

Next up...the orange tree. When this blooms there is the most wonderful scent! It will only be a week or so before the flowers burst open and the bees do their thing.

Last, but not least is the Lemon tree. Another tree with thorns, but very fragrant when it blooms. This will be the last tree to bloom, I think. It doesn't get as much sun as the other two trees do and it hasn't grown as large or as fast as the other two trees. But I sure do love those purpl-y berry shaped blossons...soon to be opened.

For this page I just painted with black acrylic paint. When it was dry, I used a stencil (from The Crafter's Workshop)with a white Sakura Souffle Pen. The color intensifies as the ink dries. Then it was onto Crayola Metallic FX Crayons. I bought them for another project, which I will get to soon, but I just had to color on the black background! LOVE IT!!

I sing this song every now and again and tell myself that I will create something artistic using the song lyrics. Just love Simon and Garfunkel. Acrylic paints, Doodlebug paper frills, Heidi Grace chipboard hearts, Zig Memory System Ball 0.5mm pen...it writes very well over acrylic. I was happily surprised.

Art journal entry for today: all about my issues with my birthday which was yesterday. I have problems with the number 50. I don't feel it, I don't think I look it, and I don't want to be 50. But I am. May be struggling with this for a while, I think. UGH!

Well, at least I like my art journal page. Pink, blue, yellow and white acrylic paint. bubble wrap...gotta have some of that, you know! and stamping with a Black Soot Distress Ink pad. Black Sharpie pen and journaling with an American Crafts Precision Pen in black. It went on really well. I thought I would have problems writing on the acrylic paint, but no...it was like butta!
